Many people in their childhood dreamed of having some superpower. Some dreamed of being able to fly, some dreamed of becoming invisible, and some dreamed of understanding the language of animals and
birds. Perhaps some even had a few dream superpowers. For me, mind-reading was at the top of the list of such superpowers. I got such a dream when I met Alice Selezneva and the movie "The Guest from the Future".
To be honest, I don't even remember what kind of thoughts I was going to read, having such an ability or device. But the fact that I liked the idea very much is a fact. Then I grew up, and I realized that this mind-reading thing was not so simple.
Imagine: you decided to surprise someone close to you on a holiday, you prepared everything, and the future owner of the gift took ... and read your thoughts! Maybe by accident, maybe on purpose. On the one hand, nothing bad happened, the gift will still be welcome, but the surprise will not work.
Or here is a more complicated situation: you have a new acquaintance. You like him very much and you want to get to know him better. At first glance, it may seem that he likes you too. But if you can read minds, or possess such a device ... It may turn out that your acquaintance is not what he wants to seem. Although, in this situation there is an advantage: you will not have time to entrust such a subject with anything particularly valuable.
With gifts, too, there is a plus: you can stop in time the one who is going to give you something that you already have, or something that you will definitely not like and do not need. And of course, there is a huge disadvantage that can not be overlooked: you can learn a huge number of unnecessary secrets of others, and what these secrets will be - it is unknown.
Therefore, mind reading should be used very carefully, and within reasonable limits.
Have you ever dreamed of having a superpower? What kind?
