Finally, we have waited for one of the major movie events this year. We are talking, of course, about the release of the most anticipated blockbuster - the massive and epic sequel to Danny Villeneuve's Dune.
The events of both films are adaptations of the first book of the science fiction series of the same name by Frank Herbert. If the original film mainly familiarized the viewer with the universe and its rules, the sequel allows itself to slightly increase the pace and focus on the development of the plot.
"Dune: Part Two" is a truly epic and incredibly aesthetic blockbuster, continuously wowing the viewer and keeping them in suspense for all 3 hours of its running time.
The picture begins exactly where the previous one ended. The great house of Atrides has fallen, and its only descendant, Paul, along with his mother, has joined the mysterious tribe of desert-dwelling Fremen. This is a classic story of becoming a hero.

Young Atrid will have to learn the culture of the Sand People in order to become their "own". He will have to accept the destiny of the chosen one, lead the people and start a great galactic war. The boy must die in order for the messiah to appear.
The cast of the first movie was superstar-studded. In the sequel, Timothy Chalamet, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Batista and Josh Brolin returned to their characters. Moreover, Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh joined the cast as the Emperor and his daughter. Austin Butler played the insane Harkonnen heir Feyd-Raut, and Lea Seydoux played the new sister of the Order of Bene Gesserit. Also with a small but very important cameo, Anya Taylor-Joy appeared on screen.

One of the main characters of the picture can be called the desert and its inhabitants. The viewers spend a significant part of the timing together with Paul in this hot and arid land. Here you can learn about the traditions and beliefs of the indigenous population, enjoy the sunset, sitting on one of the barchans, and even make an extreme trip on the back of a giant sandworm.

In contrast to the warm colors of the desert, Gedi Prime, the home planet of the Harkonnen antagonists, is depicted in cold black and white.
The artistry is as stunning as the first installment. Inventive camerawork by
Greg Fraser, a goosebump-inducing soundtrack by
Hans Zimmer and incredibly detailed interiors. Original costumes by designer
Jacqueline West, inspired by the work of the legendary
Hans Rudi Giger and
tarot cards.

The stark scale of the desert and spaceships. Epic action scenes that take your breath away. The picture sounds and looks so stunning that you should definitely watch it in IMAX.
Among the major themes the movie explores, the main one is power.
What is its essence? Why do some seek it above all else, and why do others desperately try to get rid of it? Very closely connected with it is the theme of fate, which is a shadow of prophecy hanging over Paul and all the people of the Fremen. Or are we the creators of our own lives, can everything be predetermined? Villeneuve invites the viewer to ponder these questions for himself.

The movie also reminds us of the importance of historical memory. The protagonist's journey shows that it is impossible to build a happy future without knowledge of the past.
On the foundation laid by the first tape, the director builds a story full of vivid events, colorful characters and intricacies of intrigue. It is for such films that people fill the halls of theaters. It seems that Danny Villeneuve's "Dune" has the potential to become as timeless a classic as Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings".
