The way it works is that all children should have grandmothers. Two. Well, everyone should have one grandmother. But for Zhenka... Zhenka had a hard time with that.
- What do you mean, you don't have grandmothers? - His friend Taska asked him once. "That's impossible.
And Zhenka explained. It turned out that one of his grandmothers lived in another country and saw him very rarely, not even every year, and the second one... No, this grandmother lived nearby, at least closer than the first one, but when Zhenka was born, she said that her grandchildren were not part of her plans, and she still took no part in his life.
- But, you know what? It's even good.
- Why? - Zhenka didn't understand.
- Because you can choose it! And I'll help you.
- And how are we going to look for her? - Zhenka asked.
- First we need to make a list of what kind of grandmother we need and what she should be able to do.
- Read with me," answered Zhenka at once. Of course, his parents read to him a lot, but when his grandmother does it, it's a different matter.
- Well, yes - agreed Taska - and tell stories.
- And also sometimes to play with me - continued Zhenka - and of course - this point he and Tasia added with a chorus - to give gifts and treats!
For a few more days Tasia and Zhenka questioned their acquaintances. Some said that their grandmother sometimes helped them do their homework, some (of course, they were girls) said that their grandmother braided their hair, sometimes gave them things she sewed or knitted herself, and by the way, even taught her granddaughter to sew, knit and cook. Many more said that grandmother often picked them up from kindergarten, and sometimes meets them from school. Zhenka and Tasya added the latter to the list. Having made it, they started looking, and that's where the problems began. Because they had not thought at all where they would look for this grandmother.
At first, Zhenka and Tasia studied the grandmothers from their own and neighboring entrances. But none of them were suitable - some of them were quite old, and a few were angry. Tasya found one old lady in her house who had a dog and who seemed suitable for them. And they remembered for the rest of their lives how they ran away from that evil couple. They barely got away.
And then... Then it became completely unclear where to look. It was strange and even stupid to try to place Zhenka with someone else's grandmother, and neither he nor Tasia knew where else to find a grandmother. And then one day...
One evening a phone call rang at Zhenka's house. He realized from the fragments of the conversation that it was his grandmother Tonya calling.
- Bye mom, see you soon - Mom said goodbye and hung up the phone.
- Is that grandma Tonya? - Zhenka asked.
- Uh, yeah.
- Why wouldn't she want to talk to me?
Grandma Tonya had always done that, and now it seemed strange to Zhenka.
- There was no time.
- Uh-huh. When is she coming to visit?
- She's not visiting," Mom replied.
- How?
- Son, Grandma Tonya's coming back here for good.
- Yes?" said a happy Zhenka.
- Yes!" Mom confirmed with a smile.
And it really happened: Grandma Tonya came back! She now lived in the neighboring yard and spent a lot of time with Zhenya. His dream about his grandmother had come true.
The end
