At the end of the 19th century, telephone communications began to rapidly penetrate into the everyday life of the people. More and more residents could afford to use a telephone, a real miracle and the embodiment of scientific progress, which made it possible to transmit voice from a distance.
Telephone companies were forced to build huge communication centers connecting all telephone lines in cities so that each phone owner could reach another one.

One of the most progressive cities in this regard was Stockholm, where the largest telephone tower in Europe was built. It connected 5500 telephone lines!
The giant structure was noticeable from any part of the city, and clumps of blackening wires spoiled the appearance of the streets. However, soon the engineers realized the wires could also be successfully laid underground. Exactly in this way telephone companies began to operate in other countries.
