In one cold mountainous country there lived a family: brothers, Axel and Willi, and their parents. The brothers' parents were very respected people in town - they were bakers. And of course, as it often happens, they dreamed of passing the business to their sons. And if the younger, rambunctious Willie was not much to hope for, then with Axel they hit the mark. While the rest of the boys were running around the streets - sometimes playing ball, and sometimes just doing nothing, Axel was always busy. He was always making things and always really liked to cook. He was not even five years old, and he had already become a full-fledged assistant to his parents in the kitchen. Now he was twelve, and he could cook almost everything, and not just baked goods. But most of all, Axel loved to make doughnuts.
But he was an active boy, and as well as his brother he knew how to ski, and even knew how to run on them. But Axel had never imagined that it would be the skis that would help him get the recipe of his dreams.
Axel's favorite time of year was always winter, not least because of his birthday. His birthday was almost immediately after New Year's Eve. And on these holidays, many people are known to make wishes. On his birthday, Axel wished to learn how to make the dish of his dreams. The best doughnuts in the world. But what they should be like, Axel didn't know himself.
It was a week after Axel's birthday. It was a weekend, so the brothers were at home. They were looking out the window and suddenly they saw a donut rolling right towards their house... a donut! Yes, yes, a huge donut made of snow.
- I wish I could try such a doughnut! - Willie said dreamily.
- And the recipe! - added the practical Axel.
- Let's go and find out! - Willie suddenly suggested.
- Who? - Axel was dumbfounded.
- From whoever made that donut," Willie added nonchalantly.
- Yeah, you're right. - Axl agreed. And we should return the doughnut. It's probably someone's breakfast or lunch.
The brothers got dressed, put on their skis and went to look for the owner of the doughnut. By the way, they took the doughnut with them - they just rolled it along the road. They had already traveled a long way, and suddenly they saw another doughnut rolling down the road.
- What, this one's from there, too? - Willie pointed to where the first doughnut had rolled in from.
- Well, yeah, I guess so," Axel replied.
- Then he must be brought back too - Willie thought - But how?
- Let's make them! - Axel suggested it.
They molded the doughnuts and went on their way. And now they came to a small hill, from which rolled...the third doughnut! And from behind the hill, there were some creepy noises.
- Do you hear that? - Axel asked, sounding like someone very big crying.
- So it must be the owner of this breakfast," Willie guessed, "his doughnuts ran away and he's crying.
The brothers dragged all the doughnuts behind the hill, and they see, exactly: a huge giant is sitting near the mountain and weeping.
- Wah! My breakfast and lunch are gone!
- Don't cry, giant! - Willie spoke to him - We brought your doughnuts, we caught them.
- We?" the giant stopped crying, "who is we?
- My name is Axel," he introduced himself, "and this is my younger brother Willie.
With those words, the brothers rolled the donuts closer to the giant.
- Thank you, good boys - thanked the giant - you saved my lunch.
With these words the giant took out a cup (as tall as Axel), sipped from it some brown drink, took a bite of a doughnut with a crunch, and suddenly proposed:
- Maybe you'd like to try some, too. I used to make them myself.
- N-no, we don't eat doughnuts like that," Axel answered and explained, "we don't have big teeth. But I like your idea very much and I would like to learn how to make doughnuts like that. Only, of course, not out of snow.
The brothers really made friends with the giant. And Axel learned how to make snow doughnuts, which were even as crunchy. Everyone loved them at once. So Axel fulfilled his dream.
The end
